I AM, Incognito III, The End

When I speak digital dialogue
a light is always on
someone is always home
(except when I’m not)

there isn’t a wizened wizard behind a curtain
or a trickster troll posing as a person
or a salivating creature baiting its next meal
(well, I do like monsters with large gooey teeth)

behind the words and images here you’ll find
a woman
child
mother
girl
wife
daughter
daughter-in-law
sister
sister-in-law
an aunt
cousin
godmother
friend
reader
art instructor
pen-pal
animal lover
monster maker
music maniac
teacher
frustrated prima dona
coworker
bad cook
confidant
neighbor
blogger
athlete
pianist
clod
goofball
optimist
idealist
‘artist’
‘writer’
schemer
dreamer

in this great, big world
technology
shouldn’t ever remove
the human in us

thank you,
I

  1. Pretty Cool Collage AnnMarie parts of it reminds me of an old vhs cover of the movie ‘Chinatown’. What a phenomenal artist you are. I put you in my most recent story ‘Ava and Lillian Trek’ a small part where you do get your artwork hung in a museum and the museum is named after you. I think you will like that story. Any story with AnnMarie is a good one.

  2. Can’t sleep so I’m reading blogs, πŸ™‚ I like this. I like that you’re an “animal lover.” I like the ending, the “I AM” — it seems forceful and bold. πŸ™‚

  3. writer, schemer, dreamer — love the ending! clod? athlete? hmmmm don’t usually see those two together? pen pal….this gives me pause. Is that what we bloggers are? techie pen pals? You know, it was always my dream as a little girl to have a pen pal in some exotic country….when that didn’t work, I tried for Milwaukee and then I settled for my gramma. Funny memories.
LOVE the collage….especiall the little tear or fold down at the top….and oh the beautiful center eyes. I wonder…..is this a “practice” as in working to get better at eyes, noses, ears….because seems to me you nailed the eyes here!
Here’s a tip of my first cup to you this morning!

    • I was a first base-gal and often found myself tripping over the bag πŸ™‚
Yes, I think techie pen pals aptly covers it πŸ™‚
The collage was a college assignment – I believe I received an A-. My work was always a bit sloppy. This especially drove the graphic arts professors nuts – they like nice clean lines and no smudges!
      I’m a smudger by nature.
      Thank you. Happy Sunday.
