why fix this broken machine

why fix this broken machine
the urgency in uplifting messages
broadcast with heavy hearts
misguided mobs leveling cruel ends
by hideous means
refusing to behave
as a beautiful homogeneous group
faith shaken to the core
our vast home, shriveling
wicked minds vexed by calculating brains
broad strokes of ignorance painting world murals
why fix this broken machine
pulling loads up the mountain
carts inundated with hopeless direction
greed, avarice, folly, sickness
wishing upon flesh stars

…still…

despite every sour moment
we suck into our spongy hearts
there is something undeniable
in the endless beauty of man

we are not machines
we are not broken
we fix the pieces that wear over time
we readjust the parts because we have the ability to do so
we restart the stops in the moments we catch our breath
we reignite the stalls when our brothers collapse upon themselves
we do not crush ourselves, over and over again
we reinvent
despite the few who dare to rip the road from beneath our feet
we continue walking up the mountain

there are those who choose to break
there are many who refuse to be broken

do we know

there is a place
do we know
do they
where wind blows to sow forests
insects crawl beneath shade
no matter beliefs
ocean waves crash back and forth
pulling and taking and giving back
circling the hands of time
moon, comets, sun
arrive and leave and return
purple sands conceal water
bombastic rocks jag the horizon
steam rises from thick emerald tangles
they have not a thought
only sheer mechanics
who scorches earth
waters gardens
holds hands and kisses mouths
cleanses injured
prays, screams, moans, mourns, laughs
with the commonality of desire
of a need
those who utter its uselessness
or lack of purpose
are liars
we all love
we do
all love
and there is a place
we might share
covered in blue
do we know
do they

Earth’s Angel

Dear Friends,
As glorious as this time of year can be for some, for others it can be quite sad and horrific. Dreaming of peace on earth is juvenile. Hoping that mankind can protect every child is naive. But asking each one of us to help someone in need – adult or child – in some small way is possible.

Earth AngelThank you. Dream like a child this night…
And never stop believing in dreams or hope…

Earth’s Angel created this afternoon.

Faith Enough to Hug Rudolph

Dear Friends,
“…Faith is believing when commonsense tells you not to…”
Rudolph Thank you. May you dream of flying on a reindeer…

Reindeer Hug inspired yesterday morning while watching, Miracle on 34th Street. The art turned out a bit differently than originally imagined. I was going to make the elf younger and chubby-cheeked, give her wavy curls and wrap her arms around Rudolph’s muzzle. I decided or rather my pencil did to go a different way. My pencil desired a more bizarre face. It said “let the Christmas hat’s white trim ‘act’ as hair and let Rudolph’s head have a clearer presence.” So pencil and hand skipped down a different candy cane path. Hope this was okay, I was only allowed one vote…
