my treasured mitt

I still enjoy throwing a ball and swinging a bat. I go to the batting cages occasionally with my big son and we challenge each other. This pic from my high school softball days. Still have my beautiful first baseman mitt and yes, I treasure it. As a lefty, back then – it was difficult to find. 😘

pain and pleasure

I adore this little deer lady. Someday, I must create a few friends for her. I think she’s been stuck on paper too long…

this piece inspired by the infinitely brilliant Stephen Hawking-enlightening us from another universe now

She’s in HOOT!

DS Levy is one of those agile writer’s who slips in dark when you’re headed down a well-lit path. I’m elated she’s returned to WP to share her cosmic talent. DS is a lifelong pursuer of all things ‘writerly,’ and she has taught me much about the writing world. She’s Yoda to my Chewbacca. Check out her new blog and follow along. More marvelous stuff around the corner…

She recently had a flash story, “What I Really Meant,” published in the very cool HOOT Review(April-May 2018). She was so very generous in choosing a figure of mine for her excellent flash story.

sweet insomnia

I hope this piece does justice to the wonderful creative appreciation going on this month: Children’s Book Week (4/30-5/9) in homage to my favorite children’s book; Pegasus, The Winged Horse, A Greek Myth Retold by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The illustration is a cover detail by the talented illustrator Herschel Levit. The writing also pays homage to National Poetry Month as it suggests Ithaca, legendary home of Odysseus. Thank you

almost frightens me, returning to these older pieces and rewriting them entirely, save a salvageable line or two
what’s scary is how I thought the originals – when written – were halfway decent
I took this photo off my back deck a few weeks ago
